May 09, 2018
On 3rd May 2018, around 100 experts, customers, potential clients and partners of encoway met up at SICK AG in Waldkirch for the encoway e-Day 2018. This year’s programme provided insights into trends, developments and experience relating to CPQ, IoT, digitisation and virtual reality. In addition to the future-oriented contents of the presentations, the participants took particular advantage of the opportunity for lively discussion among themselves. The guests praised the friendly atmosphere and the open, informative dialogue.
Impressions from the e-Day 2018:
The title of the event was “Future CPQ – an Expert Day with encoway”. Klaas Nebuhr, Member of the Board at encoway, moderated the event. In his keynote speech, Christoph Ranze, Managing Director of encoway, began a dialogue with the participants regarding trends and challenges relating to “batch size 1” and CPQ. He summarised the task ahead as “producing and delivering custom products at the lowest possible process cost” and spoke about developments at encoway, and CPQ approaches that can help solve this issue.
Nina Malaka, responsible for Strategic Marketing at encoway, used customer examples and market trends to demonstrate how web configurators are likely to develop in the B2B sector. She pointed out that companies that systematically address these issues from a customer perspective tend to be more successful. The benefits of current and future online CPQ solutions are: the increase in sales (“If you understand your customers you will sell more”), reduced workload for the sales team and being able to use data for lead generation.
Jörg Thomaschewski, Project Manager at encoway, provided a humorous look at the future of virtual reality. The participants were able to learn about and experience what VR and CPQ can feel like in the future via a sample application.
Other presentations allowed the guests to gain an in-depth insight into the roadmap of the service portfolio of encoway CPQ, to find out about the connection of encoway CPQ to Salesforce and Microsoft CRM and to learn about the outstanding possibilities provided by the innovative data management tool CPQ studio. Thomas Johnsen, Sales Manager at logicline, demonstrated the groundbreaking benefits for the future that digital asset management can offer businesses. In his presentation. Dr. Thorsten Krebs, Head of Consulting at encoway, spoke about, among other things, the outstanding value of data models and product data maintenance for more efficient business processes.
In the closing keynote speech, Bernhard Müller, Senior Vice President Industry at SICK AG, explained the demands that manufacturers and users have to meet from the perspective of the sensor manufacturer in order to make data the true treasure trove of Industry 4.0.
We are delighted that the e-Day was once again such a success, and would like to thank all our guests, speakers and helpers, as well as our host, SICK AG.
