Thorsten Krebs first came in contact with configuration while studying computer science at the University of Bremen. Since then, he has not been able to get the subject out of his head. Thorsten Krebs worked on the early stages of the configuration base “engcon” and wrote his thesis on the subject at the University of Bremen. His scientific interests led to his doctor’s thesis at the University of Hamburg. In 2009, Thorsten Krebs moved straight from university to encoway.
During his time as a product modeller and project manager at encoway, he gained a great deal of experience in the areas of quote generation, configuration, and product and data structuring. Thorsten Krebs now has the position of “Head of Consulting”, and together with his team provides companies with advice on questions of product variety and variant management. This includes the related topics of product creation, modularisation and standardisation as well as the digitisation of the processes of quote generation, order processing and after-sales.
