Bosch Rexroth: Intuitive visual configuration of automation solutions

With the ctrlX Configurator, Bosch Rexroth makes the configuration of automation solutions as easy as possible. With ctrlX AUTOMATION, Bosch Rexroth, the world’s leading supplier of drive and control technologies, offers a system that overcomes the traditional boundaries between machine control, the IT world and the Internet of Things. This is because future-proof automation solutions must be flexible, customised to individual processes and adaptable to new business models.

The strong mutual influence and dependency of components poses a particular challenge. When compiling topologies for automation solutions, users usually have to take a lot of time. They have to familiarise themselves with special features and technical terms and check technical data in product catalogues.

From the initial information to the offer

Bosch Rexroth is taking a different approach here: the customer journey starts with a visual configurator that allows automation solutions to be configured online and intuitively. The ctrlX Configurator developed with encoway covers the steps from initial information, product selection and configuration through to consultation and a quotation for customised solutions. Users can use it to configure complete and consistent automation solutions independently.

Highlights of the ctrlX Configurator

  • Graphical creation of automation topologies
  • Visual configuration of ctrlX I/O
  • Automatic linking of products by adding matching cables
  • Integrated and tested solution including documentation, CAD and EPLAN

Users do not need any detailed knowledge of the Rexroth portfolio or the names of the individual products and series. They simply use the ctrlX Configurator to put together their topologies graphically from a product library and connect them together. An automatic rule check in the background checks the arrangement and immediately indicates any existing connection conflicts.

Users can flexibly change the topology in the project. The current configuration status is displayed dynamically and consistency is checked based on models and rules. Projects can be saved and called up again at any time. Users can download all the necessary information directly: The summary of the individual configuration in PDF format or the CAD and EPLAN data.

With the ctrlX Configurator, Bosch Rexroth sales staff and customers can put together a customised solution for the application intuitively and with minimal time and research effort.
