A fascinating mixture of best practices, workshops and exchange of experience at the encoway e-Day 2020 hosted by our customer Hager Group.
February 18, 2020
On February 12, around 80 managing directors, decision-makers and users from sales, product management and IT met up at the encoway e-Day 2020 under the motto “Fit for the upswing”. In Blieskastel, at the headquarters of our customer Hager Group, the participants benefited from a balanced mixture of specialist lectures, workshops and time for networking.
The guests and speakers made use of the day to exchange ideas with each other and for discussions with the experts for CPQ and variant management from encoway. The Hager demo stand, where the configuration team demonstrated the sophistication of their 3D configurator, was a major attraction for the visitors during the breaks. Plenty of opportunities to exchange experience were also provided by the tour of Hager’s production facility and the get-together with dinner to which encoway had invited the guests the previous day.
Impressions from the e-Day 2020:
Practical tips from experts and users
Klaas Nebuhr, a member of the executive board at encoway, led the conference and between the individual sessions, he provided a wealth of useful impulses for customer experience, visual configuration, product data management, process costs and automation. As the host, Michael Burkhardt, Head of Market Management at Hager Vertriebsgesellschaft, opened the event. His best practice lecture “Configuration and 3D visualisation: the strategic contribution to the Hager Group’s digital customer journey” not only provided a good insight into the current visual configuration platform, but also included a look at future application scenarios from the specialist for solutions in the field of electrical installation.
Norbert Sasse, Director of Product Management at Bosch Rexroth, spoke about the new paths the company has taken together with encoway in order to be able to use the scalable automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION to configure individual components and complete automation solutions without any prior product knowledge. In a very entertaining way, Christian Bredlow, Managing Director of Digital Mindset GmbH, dealt with the question of what is really behind buzzwords like #agil & Co. and presented the seven most important success factors in digitisation. The importance of a lean and at the same time effective data management system as a basis for cost-effective digital processes was explained by Thorsten Krebs, Head of Consulting at encoway, based on the impressive facts and figures from a practical example at Lenze SE.
Immersion in special topics
Expert workshops allowed the participants to delve deeper into specific topics. In the workshop “One system with many possibilities”, for example, visitors experienced live how a new product is created in a Hager 3D configurator and what steps are necessary in encoway CPQ. Other sessions on “Digitisation in the crisis”, “The role of CPQ in the overall process”, “encoway CPQ: From the product structure to your sales channels at the touch of a button” and “The benefits of configuration for ABB and its customers” provided an opportunity for interesting discussions and insights. The topic of AI was, however, also dealt with at the e-Day. Roland Becker, CEO of JUST AI GmbH presented, among other things, impressive practical examples from companies that already use AI in their daily work.
We are delighted that the e-Day was so successful, and would like to thank all participants and speakers for the open dialogue and positive feedback, and also our host, the Hager Group, for the warm welcome and the excellent support.
